5oz Fleet Precious Metals Silver Bar - 684
Fleet Precious Metals was a subsidiary of Fleet National Bank from 1988 to 2006[1]. In early 2000, Fleet National Bank merged with Bank of America continuing to operate under the name "Fleet National Bank"[2] until 2005, when it merged into and subsequently operated as part of Bank of America[3].
Fleet National Bank and Fleet Precious Metals (FPM) were a part of a few lawsuits. A couple I found most interesting are here and here, the latter involving the U.S. Mint in which FPM received a delivery of Silver that was supposed to go to the Mint...
There is not a lot of information out there about these bars or this refinery. I have been able to find the FPM hallmark on a few other bars but none with just the FPM hallmark by itself.
The bars I've found are this Engelhard 5oz bar and this Engelhard 10oz bar and another popped up on a FaceBook group that I have a picture of here, but still none with just the FPM hallmark by itself.
Notes:
S#684 does not have the ( . ) stamped behind the "OZS" like it is on S#683 and S#685. Also, the "4" in the S# has the characteristics of a repunched mintmark and it's a different font from the 4 used on the rest of the bars.
